1. Introduction

Z-Connect (Pty) Ltd ("Z-Connect", "we", "us", "our") is a South African company operated by Zetnet Mobile (Pty) Ltd, a licensed mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) carrying voice, SMS and data traffic on the Vodacom network under a wholesale agreement. Our registered address is 02 Rhodesadrift Street, Bendor, Polokwane, 0699.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Z-Connect services including mobile airtime and bundles, home internet connectivity, the Z-Wallet, device finance, Z-Rewards, insurance products distributed by Z-Connect, and any other product we make available to you (collectively, the "Services").

By activating a SIM, subscribing to a service, creating a wallet, or otherwise using any part of our Services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use our Services.

2. Eligibility

To use Z-Connect Services you must:

  • be 18 years of age or older, or have verifiable parental or guardian consent;
  • be a natural person resident in the Republic of South Africa, or a juristic person lawfully incorporated or registered in South Africa;
  • successfully complete RICA registration as required by the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act 70 of 2002 ("RICA");
  • provide accurate, current and complete information during registration and keep it up to date; and
  • comply with these Terms and all applicable South African law.

3. Account registration and RICA

3.1 You must RICA your SIM before it can make or receive calls or use data. RICA requires you to provide your full name, South African identity document or valid passport, and residential address.

3.2 You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Keep your PIN, OTP, and account credentials confidential. Notify us immediately at +27 15 101 1336 if you suspect unauthorised access.

3.3 We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably suspect that the information you provided is false, misleading or incomplete, or that your account is being used for unlawful purposes.

4. Mobile services

4.1 Network. Mobile services (voice, SMS and data) are delivered over Vodacom's network under a wholesale agreement. Network coverage, quality and availability depend on Vodacom's infrastructure. Z-Connect makes no independent warranty of continuous, uninterrupted or error-free network service.

4.2 Bundles and airtime. Purchased data bundles and airtime have expiry dates as specified at the time of purchase. Unused value is forfeited on expiry. Out-of-bundle rates apply when a bundle is exhausted.

4.3 Fair use. Services are offered for personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell, share commercially, or use Z-Connect services to operate a router farm, PABX bypass, SIM box or any device designed to aggregate or resell traffic.

4.4 Emergency services. You can reach emergency services (10111 police, 10177 ambulance, 112 universal) at no charge even with zero balance. Emergency calls cannot be guaranteed where there is no network coverage.

4.5 International roaming. Roaming is subject to partner network availability and separate roaming rates. Roaming must be enabled on your account before departure.

4.6 Number portability. You may port your existing number to Z-Connect in accordance with the Mobile Number Portability regulations. Porting to another operator will terminate your Z-Connect account for that number.

4.7 Network terms. Z-Connect prepaid mobile services run on the Vodacom network. Until Z-Connect publishes its own prepaid network terms, Vodacom’s Prepaid SIM Terms and Conditions also apply to your use of the network service, in addition to these Terms.

5. Home internet services

5.1 Home internet services (fibre, 5G fixed wireless, Konekta hotspots) are subject to availability at your address. We will confirm availability and indicative speeds during the application process.

5.2 Installation of fibre or fixed wireless equipment may be subject to landlord or body-corporate consent. You are responsible for obtaining any required permission before installation.

5.3 Equipment provided by Z-Connect or its partners on a loan basis remains our property. You must keep it in good working order and return it in good condition upon cancellation. Loss or damage beyond fair wear and tear will be charged to you at replacement cost.

5.4 Home internet services are intended for lawful private residential use. Commercial use or resale without our written consent is prohibited.

6. Z-Wallet and financial services

6.1 The Z-Wallet is a stored-value account. Wallet services, and any card linked to the wallet, are issued and regulated by our licensed banking partner. By opening a wallet you also agree to that partner's terms and conditions, which will be provided to you during the wallet setup process.

6.2 Device finance and Z-Advances (short-term credit) are credit products provided by a registered credit provider in accordance with the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 ("NCA"). We are a credit intermediary. A credit agreement will be disclosed and signed before credit is extended.

6.3 Insurance products distributed by Z-Connect are underwritten by a licensed short-term or long-term insurer. Policy terms, exclusions, premiums and claims procedures are set out in your policy schedule and policy wording, which form part of your agreement with the insurer.

6.4 Z-Connect does not provide financial advice. Nothing in our marketing or on our website constitutes advice as defined in the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act 37 of 2002 ("FAIS").

7. Z-Rewards

Z-Rewards points are earned and redeemed in accordance with the Z-Rewards programme rules published on our website and app. Points have no cash value, are not transferable, do not accrue interest, and expire 24 months after the last account activity unless otherwise stated. We may amend, suspend or terminate the Z-Rewards programme with 30 days' notice.

8. Pricing and billing

8.1 Prices are quoted in South African Rand and are inclusive of VAT at the prevailing rate unless otherwise stated. Indicative prices on our website are subject to change and are confirmed at activation or purchase.

8.2 Postpaid and subscription services are billed monthly in advance (fixed charges) and in arrears (usage charges). Prepaid balances are deducted in real time.

8.3 We may change our prices with 30 days' notice. For regulated services, price changes comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

8.4 Disputed charges must be raised with us within 30 days of the invoice date. You may not withhold payment of undisputed charges while a dispute is pending.

9. Acceptable use

You may not use Z-Connect Services:

  • to transmit unsolicited bulk communications (spam) by any medium;
  • to spread malware, viruses or any harmful code;
  • to infringe any intellectual property, privacy or personality rights of any third party;
  • to conduct phishing, fraud, identity theft or any other illegal activity;
  • to interfere with, damage or overburden our network or systems;
  • to access or attempt to access any account, system or data without authorisation;
  • in violation of any applicable South African law or regulation, including the Electronic Communications Act 36 of 2005, the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020, and RICA; or
  • to resell, sub-licence or commercially exploit the Services without our written consent.

Breach of these acceptable-use obligations entitles us to suspend or terminate your Services immediately and without notice.

10. Suspension and termination

10.1 By you. You may cancel any Service by giving us written notice at or calling +27 15 101 1336. Postpaid cancellations are effective at the end of the current billing month. Prepaid cancellations are effective immediately; no refund is given for unused prepaid balance except as required by law.

10.2 By us — with notice. We may suspend or terminate any Service on 30 days' written notice without cause.

10.3 By us — immediately. We may suspend or terminate without notice if: (a) you breach these Terms; (b) you fail to pay any amount due; (c) we are required to do so by law or regulatory order; or (d) continued provision would pose a risk to network integrity or security.

10.4 On termination you remain liable for all charges accrued to the termination date. We will release your mobile number for portability within the regulatory timeframe.

11. Intellectual property

All content on the Z-Connect website and app — including text, graphics, logos, icons, images, data compilations and software — is the property of Z-Connect or its licensors and is protected by South African and international copyright and trade-mark law. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, upload, transmit, or distribute any part of it without our prior written consent, except as permitted by law for personal, non-commercial use.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Z-Connect Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that Services will be available at all times, that defects will be corrected, or that our servers are free of viruses or harmful components.

13. Limitation of liability

13.1 Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law (including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, to the extent it applies).

13.2 Subject to clause 13.1, our total aggregate liability to you in respect of any single event or series of related events is limited to the greater of: (a) the total charges you paid to us in the 3 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to liability; or (b) R 500.

13.3 We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, special or punitive loss or damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of business, whether arising in contract, delict, or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such loss.

14. Indemnity

You indemnify and hold harmless Z-Connect and its officers, employees, agents, partners and service providers from any claim, loss, damage, cost or liability (including legal costs on an attorney-and-client scale) arising from: (a) your use of the Services in breach of these Terms; (b) any content you transmit through our network; or (c) your violation of any third-party right or applicable law.

15. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

16. Amendments

We may amend these Terms at any time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a revised effective date and, for material changes, notify you by SMS or email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms. If you do not accept a material change, you may cancel your Services before the change takes effect without penalty.

17. Governing law and disputes

17.1 These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.

17.2 If a dispute arises, you must first contact us at or +27 15 101 1336 to seek informal resolution. We will endeavour to resolve complaints within 15 business days.

17.3 If informal resolution fails, the dispute may be referred to the relevant Ombudsman (WASPA for mobile content disputes; the applicable FAIS or credit ombud for financial products) or to a South African court of competent jurisdiction. We consent to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Magistrate's Court, Polokwane, or the High Court, Limpopo Division.

17.4 Z-Connect is a member of the Wireless Application Service Providers' Association ("WASPA") and subscribes to the WASPA Code of Conduct.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any product-specific addenda, constitute the entire agreement between you and Z-Connect in respect of the Services and supersede all prior discussions, representations and agreements.

Assignment. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of substantially all our assets.
